‘Ukulele Festival Near You!

Tis the season of ‘ukulele festivals and camps.

With the popularity of the ‘ukulele growing both domestically and internationally, it is easier than ever to get to learn and hear from some of the best ‘ukulele players in the world.  These ‘ukulele gatherings are also a great opportunity to meet fellow like-minded ‘ukulele players. Playing with other people is a different game than playing solo in the bedroom. It takes practice and experience to be comfortable entering these group sessions with ease but the pay off is more than worth it. It is an collective and elevated experience to “lock in” with other players.

Luckily there are many resources to get all in information you need about these ‘ukulele camps or festivals. Here are three websites that have compiled lists of a lot of ‘ukulele events throughout the rest of the year. Go ahead and click the images to take you to each respective calendar.

For our fellow Eugene, Or. friends here are two close events that are happening this summer and are close by:

Ukulele University

Location: Cascades Academy, Bend, Oregon, USA
Date: July 17 to 19, 2015
Performers: Craig Chee, Sarah Maisel, Aaron and Nicole Keim, and Rhan Wilson
Website: http://ukeu.info/

The Oakridge Ukulele Festival

Location: TBA
Date: August 7th to 9th, 2015

These events tend to not only be educational but a lot of fun. Many will pair your ‘ukulele playing with various outdoor activities for the day time and at night have open mics, dancing, performances, etc.

So sign up and save the date before it’s too late!

  1. Hm…not an all-inclusive list I see. I know for a fact that there’s an Uke Fest in NJ at the end of August, because I’ve been debating on whether or not I can wiggle my budget around enough to go. 🙂

    1. Aloha Shelby!

Thanks for the info! I am sure there are more ‘ukulele festivals/camps/events that are not included on these lists. I will go and check out that festival in NJ. By any chance do you have the name of it?

I hope you get to go! Best of luck and thanks for reading Shelby! Love the poetry!

      1. More or less why I mentioned it. If I know about one that isn’t included, there are probably tons more that aren’t, as well.

I think it’s called Uke New Jersey 3 (as in, the third year running, I believe). I’m hoping to go, because I’m a total ukulele beginner, so a few workshops seem like a really good idea, but I’ll have to play it by ear. That might, potentially, be the same weekend we were planning on going into PA for Musikfest, so I have to confirm my schedule before I even worry about whether or not it’s within my budget. 🙂

  2. Wow it sounds like you got some options! I see that Craig Chee and Sarah Maisel will be at the Uke New Jersey festival. They are both wonderful players and teachers. Best of luck on your ‘ukulele playing, whichever direction you intend on going!
