‘Ukulele History at NAMM

Happy 2016 and thanks for reading! We here at Pacific Winds Music are excited for what 2016 may bring and all the wonderful opportunities for sharing music with our friends and family. At the start of the new year many music merchants, artists, and educators from around the world flock down to Anaheim, California for the Winter NAMM Show. For those of you who don’t know, NAMM stands for the National Association of Musical Merchants and features the unveiling of new products for the year. Alongside that are many artist performances and educational sessions that make it a busy but exciting several days. I wanted to share some pictures Pat and I took at the show!

This year was quite a big year for the ‘ukulele as 2016 marks Kamaka ‘Ukuleles 100th year anniversary making ‘ukuleles. To celebrate Kamaka unveiled a 100th year anniversary pineapple ‘ukulele model made by Casey Kamaka himself. Also the their ‘ukuleles released this year will feature a commemorative headstock design.

Kamaka also threw a legendary concert featuring many of their sponsored artist ranging from the young guns Andrew Molina and Kris Fuchigami to the legends Benny Chong and Jake Shimabukuro. To have them back to back in one show was quite the treat! I was so enamored I almost forgot to take pictures! Congratulations Kamaka ‘Ukuleles on your success and to another 100 years of beautiful handcrafted ‘ukuleles!
